This item: free-response and multiple-choice questions for an Advanced Placement Biology practice exam. This is an example of my specialized content knowledge in biology. It also shows close alignment with the standards and exam formatting prescribed for Advanced Placement courses by the College Board.

Client: an after-school tutoring company.

Learners: high school students in an Advanced Placement Biology course.

Project: freelance assistance to a small staff updating in-house practice tests. Materials received a brief proofreading from a staff member before being distributed to students.

My role: I was tasked with correcting and updating a five-year-old practice exam that needed realignment to current College Board course standards, recalibration to achieve the correct difficulty level, and corrections to the science. I analyzed the original material and was able to retain about 25% of it unaltered, edited about 25%, and replaced the remaining 50% with new material. The excerpts here are new items I created, including their embedded teacher’s guide.
